I've spent the last several months talking with hundreds of Peterborough residents and business owners.
The message I hear from nearly everyone is identical:
That's the zero-sum game of scarcity. There's a better question to ask of ourselves and of our city...
I believe Peterborough can be a city of abundance, not scarcity.
But to realize that potential, we need leadership that understands how to build — by building trust, building community, and building an environment of job creation.
We need practical leadership and a clear vision for growth.
We need to bring community energy back to our Electric City.
I need all of us to unlock PTBO’s potential.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been an entrepreneur.
People like me don't wait for someone else to fix what’s broken — they remove every obstacle needed to get the job done.
In any problem they see an opportunity, and they collaborate tirelessly to achieve their full potential.
I’m also a lifelong community builder, committed to giving back to the city that has given me so much.
Each experience has taught me that the strength of our Peterborough is measured by how we make every resident feel like they belong here:
You've told me what PTBO needs, and I have the experience, the values and the relationships to solve our city's biggest challenges.
Whether you have five hours a week or five hours a month, whether you love talking to people or prefer working behind the scenes … there’s a role for you here. When you sign up, you aren't just a volunteer – you’re helping me build PTBO’s future.
I'm starting a movement to unlock PTBO's potential. And nothing shows the power of our movement more than hundreds of neighbours displaying a vibrant Neil Morton for PTBO lawn sign.
That's been the core of my economic development platform since the launch of my campaign for Mayor of Peterborough. And I'm hearing from residents who believe in it too. While I’m canvassing. From the PTBO Top Priority poll. And from our community input sessions. There’s a movement growing.
Let’s call it the Let's Grow PTBO movement.
A thriving economy is the engine that drives a better quality of life for everyone in our city. By actively attracting new investments, showing support to our local businesses, and collaborating closely with the County, we can significantly expand our assessment base.
That translates into the things that matter: more jobs, a vibrant downtown, faster city upkeep (like getting those potholes fixed), steady arts & culture investment, and more affordable housing. Ultimately, the more prosperity we create, the stronger our social safety net becomes for those who need it.
That's the power of economic development. A Peterborough that works for everyone. If you believe in us, join the Let's Grow PTBO movement today.
Together, we will listen to our neighbours and build momentum for inspired change. Whether you're new or experienced, your time makes a difference.
Training and materials will be provided.
